2024 SOM Internship

I was invited for an internship at the SOM architecture firm in London. I spoke with several professionals about their roles in the office and spent time learning about sustainable building strategies, structural engineering, city planning, and architectural design. I applied this knowledge to a case study that I was assigned, sketching and modeling a building that would be placed next to the Barbican within the City of London. I learned how to use Rhinoceros to make a 3D model of my project. It was challenging, but I fell in love with the process.

2025 SOM Internship

I got invited back! However, my experience during my second summer was quite different than the previous year.

I was more integrated into the office, offering myself as a resource during meetings and design workshops. In addition to my time immersed in real SOM projects, I had a solo assignment to redesign the famous Liverpool Street Station. I produced a proposal for the site that considered the economy, the "client," the structural integrity, as well as environmental impacts.

At the end of my internship, I presented my proposal to the London office. An image is shown to the right!
